Move the hardcore menu at the save point. Menu selection for hardcore mode will still be disabled however. I played a full game run through lastnight, HardCore mode does work and so does regular mode. This will NOT allow you to play on Hardmode, It simply defaults to Regular mode and stops the crash before it happens.
